Google Calendar Privacy Notice

This notice explains how ExploreIsla uses Google Calendar data when a provider, host, therapist, tour operator, or other ExploreIsla partner chooses to connect a Google Calendar to the ExploreIsla booking platform. It supplements the general ExploreIsla Privacy Policy and applies specifically to data accessed through Google APIs.

1. Who controls this integration

ExploreIsla operates the booking platform available at exploreisla.com. If you have questions about this Google Calendar integration or your data, contact us at hello.exploreisla@gmail.com.

2. Google data ExploreIsla requests

ExploreIsla requests only the Google Calendar permissions needed to operate provider availability and booking synchronization:

  • Calendar event access for calendars owned by the provider (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.events.owned) so ExploreIsla can read relevant event timing information and create, update, or remove ExploreIsla booking events only in Google Calendars owned by the authenticated provider. ExploreIsla currently uses the provider's primary calendar for this connection.
  • Free/busy access (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.freebusy) so ExploreIsla can determine when the connected calendar is unavailable and prevent customers from booking overlapping times.

ExploreIsla does not request access to Gmail, Google Drive, contacts, photos, or other unrelated Google services through this integration.

3. Why we use Google Calendar data

The purpose of the integration is scheduling. We use Google Calendar data to:

  • check whether a provider is free or busy before presenting a bookable time slot;
  • block ExploreIsla availability when an external calendar event makes the provider unavailable;
  • add confirmed ExploreIsla bookings to the provider's connected Google Calendar;
  • keep ExploreIsla booking availability and the provider's calendar synchronized;
  • reduce double bookings and scheduling conflicts;
  • diagnose and resolve calendar synchronization problems when necessary.

Google Calendar data is not used for advertising, profiling for advertising, creditworthiness decisions, or purposes unrelated to providing the ExploreIsla booking and scheduling service.

4. What ExploreIsla stores

When you connect Google Calendar, Google provides OAuth authorization credentials to ExploreIsla. ExploreIsla may store:

  • the identifier of the connected calendar;
  • OAuth access and refresh credentials required to maintain the authorized connection;
  • connection status, token expiry information, synchronization timestamps, and technical identifiers needed to operate and troubleshoot the integration;
  • calendar busy-time information needed to determine booking availability;
  • identifiers for calendar events created by ExploreIsla so the booking platform can keep those events synchronized.

We do not ask for or store your Google password. Authentication takes place directly with Google.

5. How Google Calendar data is processed

Calendar data is processed automatically by ExploreIsla's booking infrastructure for availability checks, booking synchronization, reminders, and related scheduling operations. Free/busy information is used to determine whether a requested time is available. Where ExploreIsla creates an event, the event contains information needed to identify and manage the relevant booking.

ExploreIsla is designed to use the minimum Google data reasonably necessary for these functions. We do not intentionally copy entire calendars for unrelated use.

6. Sharing and disclosure

ExploreIsla does not sell Google user data. We do not transfer Google Calendar data to advertising networks, data brokers, or unrelated third parties.

Data may be processed by service providers that support ExploreIsla's technical infrastructure, such as hosting, database, security, and transactional service providers, only to the extent necessary to provide and secure the ExploreIsla service. These providers act on our behalf and are not permitted to use the data for their own unrelated purposes.

We may also disclose information where required by applicable law, a valid legal process, or where necessary to protect the security and integrity of ExploreIsla and its users.

7. Security

ExploreIsla uses technical and organizational measures intended to protect Google Calendar connection data from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or loss. OAuth credentials are handled server-side and are not intentionally exposed to customers or placed in public storefront code. Access to calendar-related systems is restricted to the functions and authorized administrative processes required to operate the service.

8. Retention

ExploreIsla retains Google Calendar connection data only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the connected-calendar feature, maintain booking records, secure the service, troubleshoot synchronization issues, or meet applicable legal obligations. OAuth access tokens are temporary by design. Refresh credentials are used only while the calendar connection remains authorized and necessary for the service.

Operational synchronization records and booking-related event identifiers may be retained for a reasonable period where needed to maintain booking integrity, audit booking activity, or resolve technical issues.

9. Disconnecting Google Calendar and deleting access

You can stop ExploreIsla's Google Calendar access at any time. Depending on the interface available to you, you can disconnect or revoke the calendar connection through ExploreIsla, or revoke ExploreIsla's access directly from your Google Account permissions.

After authorization is revoked, ExploreIsla will no longer be able to make new authorized Google Calendar API requests using that connection. If you want us to remove remaining connection information associated with your ExploreIsla account, contact hello.exploreisla@gmail.com.

10. Google API Services User Data Policy

ExploreIsla's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

In particular, Google user data obtained through the Calendar integration is used only to provide or improve user-facing scheduling features that are prominent in the ExploreIsla booking experience. It is not used for serving advertisements and is not sold to third parties.

11. Your choices and rights

You may choose not to connect Google Calendar. The Google Calendar connection is optional unless a specific provider workflow requires calendar synchronization for availability management. You may also request information about the calendar connection associated with your ExploreIsla account, request correction of inaccurate connection information, or request deletion of eligible stored connection data, subject to applicable legal and operational retention requirements.

12. Changes to this notice

We may update this notice when the Google Calendar integration, the permissions requested, or our data practices change. The current version will remain available at this URL and the date above will be updated when material changes are made.
